A PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) element having a metal tap guide and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve a yield by correctly guiding an assembling position of a metal tap for an element body and constraining change of the assembling position of the metal tap by a solder cream in a reflow process. A PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) element having a metal tap guide includes an element body(100) of a plate shape, and a pair of metal taps(104,105). The element body(100) has a PTC material layer having a PTC characteristic, and a pair of electrodes which are attached to both planes of the PTC material layer. Grooves are formed on both planes of the element body(100). The pair of metal taps(104,105) are attached to both planes of the element body(100) so that a part corresponding to the groove is inserted thereinto. The grooves are located at central parts of both planes of the element body(100), and are formed to be extended along a length direction. A thickness of the groove is 0.01-0.2mm.
