A backlight assembly and a display device having the same are provided to need no printed circuit board(inverter slave), a connector, and a power supply unit(inverter master), thereby reducing the number of component parts of the backlight assembly. A backlight assembly comprises a plurality of lamps(10) and a receiving container. Each of the lamps includes a lamp body(11), and a first electrode part and a second electrode part(15) installed on the lamp body. The first electrode part and the second electrode part are disposed to face each other. The receiving container includes a bottom plate(21) on which the lamps are disposed, and a sidewall disposed around the bottom plate to define a receiving space. A plurality of grounding portions(22) are formed on the bottom plate or the sidewall toward the receiving space. A conductive member(30) electrically connects the second electrode part to one of the grounding portions. |
