Provided is a secondary battery, which prevents an insulation casing from being deformed even under application of an external pressure, and thus prevents electrode tabs from being in contact with an electrode assembly. The secondary battery comprises: a casing(200) opened at one side thereof; an electrode assembly received in the casing and having a first electrode tab(215) and a second electrode tab(225) drawn upwardly therefrom; an insulation casing(160) installed on the top of the electrode assembly and including a deformation-preventing portion for preventing any deformation caused by an external pressure and a first through hole and a second through hole through which the first and the second electrode taps penetrate; and a cap assembly(100) for covering and sealing the opening of the casing.
