A method and an apparatus for decoding/encoding a video signal are provided to efficiently code a video signal by selecting a prediction method with high coding efficiency by using a resolution switching technique. A method for decoding a video signal includes a step of acquiring a prediction image and a residual image from the video signal, and a step of restoring an image by using the acquired images. The video signal is decoded using resolution transformation. A method for encoding a video signal includes a step of acquiring a residual image from a current image and a reference image by using an image predicted according to at least one prediction method(1010), and a step of selecting a prediction method with optimum encoding efficiency from the prediction method applied to the residual image and coding video information according to the selected prediction method(1030).
