A DVR(Digital Video Recorder) for communication contents and an operating method therefor are provided to conveniently search and play contents in a computer or a portable terminal by file attribute classification for which a user wishes by adding a contents attribute in the communication contents. The first to the Nth broadcasting receiving ports(218a-218n) receive an analog broadcasting object from an analog broadcasting source which provides ar-wave analog broadcasting. The first to the Nth encoders(214a-214n) encode the analog broadcasting object and generate broadcasting contents. A control unit(226) requests a certain contents attribute providing server to transmit a contents attribute which is attribute information of a broadcasting object, combines the received contents attribute to the broadcasting contents, and generates communication contents. A storing unit(202) stores the broadcasting contents and the communication contents. A play unit has a decoder(220), a display unit(228), a speaker(230), and an A/V controller(222). The play unit decodes and plays the broadcasting contents.
