A center seat/console 16 that moves between a forward position 36 between front seats 24, 26, an intermediate position (34, Fig 5), and a rear position between rear seats 12, 14 is disclosed. The seat/console 16 may function as a seat in the rear seat position, or in the intermediate position. In the intermediate position the seat/console 16 in the seat configuration may advantageously be used to support a child safety seat (50). The seat/console 16 may also be configured as a console in either the rear seat, intermediate, or front seat positions, where cup holders 42 and a storage compartment 44 are accessible when in said console configuration. The seat/console 16 is provided with an adjustable height support (52, figure 6) that permits the seat/console 16 to be lowered to fit beneath arm rests 38 assembled to the front seats 24, 26 when it is desired to place the console therebetween. |
