A method and an apparatus for estimating stroke sensitivity of a micro-actuator in a hard disc driver are provided to enable the estimation of the stroke sensitivity of a micro-actuator connected to a slider and a read-write head. A micro-actuator(80) is controlled by using a micro-actuator stimulus signal so that a voice coil motor(18) induces noise into a lateral position of a read-write head near a track to generate a PES(Position Error Signal). The lateral position noise is extracted from the PES. Stroke sensitivity is estimated based on the lateral position noise and the micro-actuator stimulus signal. The micro-actuator(80) is connected to a slider(90) including the read-write head near a rotating disk surface(120-1) containing the track.
