<p>A thermoplastic adhesive for uniting fabrics to produce semi-stiff collars &c. comprises material chosen from methyl methacrylate resins, vinyl ester resins, toluene sulphonamide formaldehyde resins, and polyhydric phenolaliphatic polyhalide resins. Specified adhesives comprise (a) polymerized methyl methacrylate, diethyl phthalate, toluene, ethyl alcohol, and, if desired, pigment; (b) an interpolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride, diethyl phthalate, pigment, and methyl ethyl ketone; (c) cellulose nitrate, an interpolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride, tricresyl phosphate, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, and ethyl alcohol; (d) cellulose acetate, toluene sulphonamide-formaldehyde resin, tricresyl phosphate, pigment, and acetone; (e) polyhydric phenolaliphatic polyhalide resin, e.g. from dichlorethyl ether and resorcinol, tricresyl phosphate, and toluene.
