PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device capable of readily performing an initial setting and re-setting of continuous paper and simplifying control of a paste-applying action. SOLUTION: The bookbinding device comprises a row cutting means 20, a row-stack-and-conveyance means 23, a unit-paper cutting means 21, a unit-paper-separating-and-conveying means 45, a paste-applying means 36 and a stacked layer-bookbinding means 61. The row cutting means 20 cuts the continuous paper P formed of a plurality of unit papers lined in all directions, in a plurality of rows in a transverse direction. The row-stack-and-conveyance means 23 stacks and conveys respective rows of the continuous papers PL cut at the row cutting means 20. The unit-paper cutting means 21 cuts the continuous papers in respective rows which are stacked at the row-stack-and-conveyance means 23, in unit-paper in the stacked state. The unit-paper-separating-and-conveying means 45 separates and conveys, one by one in a longitudinal direction X the unit papers in the stacked state. The paste-applying means 36 applies paste to the predetermined unit papers which are separated one by one at the unit-paper-separating-and-conveying means 45. The staked layer-bookbinding means 61 prepares a booklet by stacking in sequence the plurality of unit-papers in a stacking area and adhering the plurality of unit papers through the use of paste applied to the predetermined unit papers.
