PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure printed article having a good working efficiency, and in addition, having a high printing effect, and to which an embossing expression is applied at the same time with printing by using a cissing varnish, and to provide a paper container using the gravure printed article. SOLUTION: A varnish layer (12) having liquid repellent property is provided on a printing base material (11) by using the gravure printing method. On the varnish layer (12) having the liquid repellent property, an ultraviolet-curing type high gloss varnish liquid is coated, and the embossing expression is afforded by partially providing an ultraviolet-curing type high gloss varnish layer (13) for this gravure printed article (10). In the gravure printed article (10), as the cissing varnish which constitutes the varnish layer (12) having the liquid repellent property, an acrylic-silicone copolymer resin is used. At the same time, as a diluting solvent for the ultraviolet-curing type high gloss varnish liquid which constitutes the ultraviolet-curing type high gloss varnish layer (13), a 6-10C aliphatic solvent is used.
