PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane elastic fiber having good spinnability causing little spinneret clogging and yarn breakage in spinning and free from the agglutination of yarns in wound yarns to give good reeling property, especially a polyurethane elastic fiber having good reeling property even in the case of winding a joined polyurethane fiber yarn produced by the joining treatment of a plurality of filaments, and keeping sufficient joining of the filaments in the joined yarn to cause little troubles such as filament splitting. SOLUTION: The polyurethane elastic fiber contains 0.1-10 wt.% silicone oil, 0.1-10 wt.% modified silicone and 0.05-5.0 wt.% metallic soap based on the polyurethane fiber. The method for producing the polyurethane elastic fiber comprises the addition of a modifier obtained by mixing a silicone oil, a modified silicone and a metallic soap to a polyurethane spinning solution and the dry spinning of the solution.
