PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dyeing a stainless steel member so that the dyed stainless member presents a vivid color and does not lose the color while showing metallic luster, is hardly stained by a fingerprint and dirt, and does not impair strength and functionality peculiar to stainless steel. SOLUTION: The method for obtaining the dyed stainless steel member 3 by dyeing the stainless steel member comprises the steps of: forming a metallic film 2 on the surface of the stainless member 1; and penetrating or bonding a dye into or onto the metallic film 2.
