VERIFYING A MESSAGE RECEIVED IN MULTICAST MODE IN A COMMUNICATION NETWORK

The invention concerns the field of communications, in particular between an access point (AP) of a network and client entities (EQ). Each client entity (ECi) stores a number (a_j) associated with said client entity and known to the access point (AP). Prior to sending a multicast mode message, the access point calculates a common multiple (PPCM(X_i) between integer expressions (X_j) pertaining to the client entities and which are obtained by a function known to the client entities and applied to respective associated numbers (a_i) and to data contained in the message to be sent. Thereafter, each client entity receiving a message: computes the expression (X_i) pertaining to said client entity, based on its associated number (a_i) and on the content of the received message; and verifies, from the received message and the received common multiple, whether the result of the division (PPCM(X_i)/ (X_j) of the common multiple by the expression is a non-null integer. The invention is applicable to IEEE 802.11 standard networks.
