Clamping unit for a series apparatus such as a conductor protection switch

A clamping unit (10) for a series apparatus comprises a clamp frame (16) into which an electrical lead is fed, a pressure piece (22) and a spring (18). A turnable cylinder (24) with an eccentric bolt is coupled with the pressure piece by a flexible rod and the position of the cylinder controls the spring tension through the pressure piece to give either a clamped or free condition of the electrical lead in the clamping frame. The operation can thus clamp or free the lead as required. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus as above, especially a lead protection switch.
