IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

摘要

An image display device employs the field sequential method performing image display by alternately lighting the light emitting elements in the backlight unit for each field. The image display device includes a luminance sensor arranged to oppose to the backlight by sandwiching the display panel for detecting the luminance of the light from the backlight unit which has passed through the display panel for each of the light emitting colors or a luminance sensor for detecting the luminance of the light from the backlight unit for each of the light emitting colors and detecting the luminance by a common light reception unit regardless of the light emitting colors. The luminance of the light of the backlight unit is controlled according to the detected luminance value for each of the light emitting colors. This enables continuous white balance adjustment while realizing accurate detection of luminance required for the white balance adjustment.
