<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer device which preferably can stably support a valve shaft of a variable intake system, and in which, even if a locking bolt fastening the valve shaft is undesirably loosened during the operation of an engine, the locking bolt is prevented from being completely removed from the retainer which supports the valve shaft, thereby avoiding potential engine damage. <P>SOLUTION: A shaft support part pivotally supporting the valve shaft of the variable intake system is provided at a center part. Fork parts in which a shank part of a locking bolt is inserted are provided on both side ends of the center part respectively. A shut off part is formed between the fork parts separately from the fork part to include a space storing a head part of the locking bolt.
