PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slab optical waveguide spectral measuring apparatus for highly sensitively detecting and identifying small amounts of specific chemical substances present in water. SOLUTION: Signals are detected through the use of both a monomolecular film made of a chemical substance having molecular recognition ability, and a sensor slab optical waveguide in which the film is carried or fixed so as to detect organic molecules in a solute.
