PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device of a vertical multiple cylinder engine capable of uniforming warming-up or cooling for upper and lower parts of each cylinder wall. SOLUTION: In this cooling device of the vertical multiple cylinder engine in which a side water passage 3 along the longitudinal direction of a cylinder block 1 is provided on one side wall of the cylinder block 1, and a cylinder jacket 4 is provided in the cylinder block 1 so that cooling water from a radiator is introduced to the cylinder jacket 4 through the side water passage 3, the outlet 5 of the side water passage 3 faces the lower part of the cylinder jacket 4. After cooling water flowing out from the outlet 5 of the side water passage 3 is passed through the lower part of the cylinder jacket 4, cooling water flows upward to the upper part of the cylinder jacket 4, thereby, warming-up or cooling for the upper and lower parts of each cylinder wall 12 is uniformed.
