PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: a lined duct with a sound absorbing material, e.g., a cell type and a splitter type, needs to be increased in length of a duct and thickness of a lining sound absorbing material and needs to narrow an opening if it is tried to raise a sound reduction factor to a frequency band of 500 to 2kHz for which sound reduction is needed most, and there are many problems. SOLUTION: A sound absorbing structure is provided wherein cylindrically processed sound absorbing base materials are arranged independently in large numbers to a sound source generation source, and the sound absorbing materials are arranged without clearance looking from the sound wave generation source, specifically, a plurality of cylindrical sound absorbing base materials made of polyester fiber, glass wool, soft urethane foam, and the like are arranged in a plurality of columns to the sound wave generation source.
