PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an empty can crushing machine which is compact and can crush an empty can smoothly with low energy consumption to reduce can volume. SOLUTION: The empty can crushing machine comprises a rotation axis 3, an empty waste can retaining section, a band plate 4 for compressing the can body, and a band plate 5 for folding both can ends. The rotation axis 3 is driven by a driving means 2. The empty can retaining section is placed in the outward area of the rotation axis 3 and has a first engaging section 1a which hinders the diametral movement of the empty can C fed with the axis of the empty can being parallel with the rotation axis 3 and a second engaging section 8 which hinders the rotational movement of the empty can C. The band plate 4 for compressing the can, of which one end is fixed to the rotation axis 3, extends in a state of approaching the first engaging section 1a gradually in the circumferential direction and is formed such that its axial width is smaller than the length of the body C<SB>1</SB>of the empty can C. The band plate 5 for folding both can ends, of which one end is fixed to the rotation axis 3, extends at the rear of the band plate 4 for compressing the can body in the rotational direction, in a state of approaching the first engaging section la gradually and is formed such that its axial width is larger than that of the band plate 4 for compressing the can body.
