摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grooving apparatus and a grooving method of a metallic tube which is optimum to groove the outer periphery of the inner tube of a heat exchanger having a double-tube structure which is excellent in the efficiency of heat exchange between a high-pressure refrigerant which flows in piping from a compressor to an evaporator in a refrigerating cycle provided on an air conditioner for automotive use, for example, and a low-pressure refrigerant in the piping from the evaporator to the compressor. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with: a first chucking means for clamping one end 2a of the metallic tube 2 to be worked; a second chucking means for selectively clamping and fixing the other end 2b or an approximately midway part of the outer periphery; and a working head 5 on which a rolling grooving member for coming into press-contact with the outer periphery of the tube to be worked so as to be movable back and forth in the radial direction R of the tube to be worked. Also in the grooving apparatus and the grooving method, by rotating one part of the tube to be worked or a working head relatively to the other part, one part is moved in the axial direction to the other part by controlling the rotational direction, and the rotational speed of the servomotor M1, a groove M is formed on the outer periphery of the tube to be worked.
