Provided is a recording medium having, on a support, a recording layer including a tartaric acid diamide derivative having an alkenyl group and/or an alkynyl group. The tartaric acid diamide derivative is preferably represented by any of the following formulae (1) to (3). R₁ to R₁₂ each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkenyl group having 2 to 30 carbon atoms, or an alkynyl group having 2 to 30 carbon atoms. R₁ to R₁₂ may be the same as or different from each other. At least one of R₁ to R₄ represents an alkenyl group or an alkynyl group, at least one of R₅ to R₈ represents an alkenyl group or an alkynyl group, and at least one of R₉ to R₁₂ represents an alkenyl group or an alkynyl group.
