<p>The invention relates to a shell (2) for a vehicle part (8) and a method for colouring a vehicle part (8), whereby the shell (2) comprises an elastic inner carrier layer (6) and a coloured outer layer (4). The shell (2) is vacuum- formed so that the dimensions of the inside (7) of the shell (2) correspond to the dimensions of the outside (9) of the vehicle part (8), and the coloured outer layer (4) is applied to the elastic inner carrier layer (6) before or after the vacuum forming, resulting in a shell (2) coloured as desired for the vehicle part (8), after which the shell (2) is bonded detachably to the vehicle part (8) so that the shell (2) can be disassembled from the vehicle part (8) and replaced by a new one if the shell (2) sustains external damage, e.g. in a collision, or if it is desired to change the chromatic treatment of the vehicle part (8). The coloured outer layer (4) may be applied to the inner carrier layer (6) by various colour application techniques such as painting, varnishing or screen printing for customized chromatic treatment as regards the colours and decoration of the vehicle part (8). The shell (2) is easy and inexpensive to produce and can be transported as a spare part without becoming damaged, through the possibility of rolling up the finished shell (2) and placing it in a less bulky form of packaging for transport.</p> |
