<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high heat stability and high safety by using hexagonal system lithium cobaltate containing zirconium, magnesium, aluminum, and zinc as different kinds of elements in lithium cobaltate as a positive active material. <P>SOLUTION: The positive active material of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises hexagonal system lithium cobaltate manufactured from a cobalt compound containing zirconium, magnesium, aluminum, and zinc as the different kinds of elements by coprecipitation. The content of zirconium in the hexagonal system lithium cobaltate is preferable to be 0.01-1.0 mol%, that of magnesium to be 0.01-3.0 mol%, that of aluminum to be 0.01-3.0 mol%, and that of zinc to be 0.01-3.0 mol%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
