PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing device of a solid-state imaging element which can acquire a signal of a high S/N ratio by eliminating a harmonic component from an output signal from a solid-state imaging element such as a CCD. SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus is provided with an A/D conversion means 50 for converting an analog signal to be output from the solid-state imaging element 26 synchronously to a transfer clock into a digital signal; and a signal processing means 51 for performing signal processing based on the digital signal. The apparatus is configured so as to be provided with a charge accumulating time setting means 54 for setting a charge accumulating time; a transfer frequency setting means 55 for setting a frequency of the transfer clock; and a sampling frequency setting means 56 for setting the sampling frequency of the analog signal by the A/D conversion means 50 at a frequency indicating frequency response characteristics for reducing the harmonic characteristics of the frequency contained in the analog signal.
