PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle pickup lathe, improving the workability of setting and removing a workpiece. SOLUTION: This spindle pickup lathe includes: a spindle chuck 6 supporting the workpiece faced down; a tool support means provided in a machining area R to cut the workpiece W supported on the spindle chuck 6; and a spindle moving means 8 for moving the spindle chuck 6 vertically and laterally. A workpiece carry-in device 11 and a workpiece carry-out device 12 are disposed in different portions of a moving area R in the lateral direction of the spindle chuck 6. The workpiece carry-in device 11 and the workpiece carry-out device 12 respectively include: an inside and outside placing table position-switching mechanism for switching the position of the workpiece placing table 25 between the inside and the outside of the machining area R; and a front and rear placing position switching mechanism for switching the position of the workpiece placing table 25 located outside the machining area R between the front and the rear positions.
