PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for production of optically active perfume and its starting compound and provide an intermediate to be used in the production method. SOLUTION: Optically activeβ-ketoesters are diazotized with a diazotization reagent, the resultant diazo compound is cyclized with a transition metal catalyst to form dialkylcyclopentane carboxylic acid, then the dialkylcycopentane carboxylic acid is subjected to the decarboxylation reaction to produce the optically active dialkylcyclopentanone.
