Disclosed is a two-layered ink-jet recording medium comprising a substrate and a lower ink-receiving layer and an upper ink-receiving layer laminated on the substrate in this order. The upper layer contains alumina having an average pore radius less than 5 nm ("alumina A") and alumina having an average pore radius equal to or larger than 5 nm ("alumina B") at an [(alumina A):(alumina B)] ratio of 100:0 to 70:30 by weight. The lower layer contains alumina A and alumina B at an [(alumina A):(alumina B)] ratio of 0:100 to 50:50 by weight. The ratio of thickness between the upper layer and the lower layer [i.e., (upper layer):(lower layer)] is 2:1 to 5:1.
