A tool (1) particularly for gathering trash, leaves, grass and the like, comprising an elongated grip element (2), which is connected, at one of its ends (2a), to a gathering element (3), which protrudes laterally with respect to the extension of the elongated element (2) and is provided with retention means (20) which are adapted to engage trash, leaves, grass and the like as a consequence of the movement of the gathering element (3) along a direction of motion which is substantially parallel to the ground, further retention means (7), being associated with the elongated element (12) and moving on command in order to pass from an inactive condition, in which the retention means and the gathering element are mutually spaced, to an active condition, in which the retention means (7) and the gathering element face each other and are mutually close, in order to clamp trash, leaves, grass and the like gathered by the gathering element (3) between the retention means (7) and the gathering element (3), and vice versa.
