[PROBLEMS] To provide an absorbent article which is suitable even for rapid and heavy urination such as nocturnal enuresis though the absorbent body of the article comprises an aggregation of filaments obtained by opening tow. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An absorbent article provided with an absorbent body comprising an aggregation of filaments (52) obtained by opening tow and highly absorbent polymer particles (54) at a weight ratio of the polymer particles (54) to the filaments (52) of 1 to 14, wherein the basis weight of the aggregation of filaments is 30 to 300g/m<SUP>2</SUP> as calculated by dividing the total weight of the aggregation of filaments constituting the absorbent element by the plane projected area of the aggregation and the basis weight of the highly absorbent polymer particles is 50 to 350g/m<SUP>2</SUP> as calculated by dividing the total weight of the particles constituting the absorbent element by the plane projected area of the aggregation, with the absorption speed of the polymer particles ranging from 45 to 20 sec.
