A method for manufacturing an LCD is provided to make a liquid crystal fill an LCD panel, thereby preventing gravity defect and touch defect, by compressing substrates, which are bound to each other after a binding process. A display area and a non-display area are respectively defined on each of first and second substrates. A liquid crystal is dropped in the display area of the first substrate(S102). A plurality of column spacers are formed in the display area of the second substrate, and a seal pattern is formed in the non-display area of the second substrate(S103). The second substrate is inverted(S104). The first and second substrates are bound to each other to form an LCD panel, which has a cell gap of a first thickness between the first and second substrates(S105). The first and second substrates are compressed to have a cell gap of a second thickness smaller than the first thickness(S107).
