PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter cover attaching method capable of attaching a filter cover to the filter of a range hood without slackening the same, and a filter device. SOLUTION: The filter cover 3 is aligned with the filter 2 so that its outer peripheral end part 4 is protruded outside of the filter 2 to cover the surface of the filter 2 with the filter cover 3 and, after the surface of the filter cover 3 is set to a developed and stretched state by inwardly folding back the outer peripheral end part 4 of the filter cover 3 to the back of the filter 2 from the end part of the filter 2, a band member 10 is locked with a plurality of the locking elements 7 of predetermined length having a locking part 9 provided in the outer peripheral end part 4 of the filter cover 3 so as to avoid the corner parts 19 of the filter 2 and the tensile force going toward the center of the filter 2 is allowed to act on the outer peripheral end part 4 of the filter cover 3 through the locking elements 7 to hold the developed and stretched state of the filter cover 3.
