PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact photographic apparatus that allows the thickness of the body to be thinned, and can prevent an image display unit from being covered by a hand grasping a grip section without enlarging the grip section. SOLUTION: A lens unit 3 provided on the front of a camera case 2 is provided in a horizontal direction along an incident optical axis P movably. An image display panel 11 is provided in a vertical direction to the incident optical axis P movably, is moved to a position overlapping with the lens unit 3 in an optical axial direction when the lens unit 3 is moved forward, and is moved to a position that does not overlap with the lens unit 3 in the optical axial direction when the lens unit 3 is moved backward.
