PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming an approximately flat metallic blank into a thin-walled shell-shaped body. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with supporting construction 16 for constituting a mold chamber 18 by which the blank 12 is held during it is deformed into the thin-walled shell-shaped body 14, a sealing device 20 which is installed on the supporting construction, by which the blank is fixed to the supporting construction in the outer periphery 22 and the rear side 24 of the blank on the side of the mold chamber is sealed to the surface 26 of the blank on the opposite side of the mold chamber and a device 28 which is installed on the mold chamber in order to apply vacuum to the mold chamber, to evacuate air from the chamber and which is communicated with the mold chamber and at least one forming tool 50 which is brought into contact with the surface of the blank is installed on the supporting construction.
