PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid spraying apparatus or a recorder which can prevent transporting-amount detection of a recording paper 120 from deteriorating by pollution due to ink mist. SOLUTION: This apparatus has a guide shaft 140, a carriage 150 which is guided to the guide shaft 140 to reciprocatively move, a recording head 156 for discharging an ink while being transported to the carriage 150, a transporting part which has a transportation driving roller 170 to be rotate driven and drives a recording paper 120 to the position facing a recording head 156 by transporting the recording paper 120 by rotation of the transportation driving roller 170, a disk-shaped rotary scale 172 which has the divisions 173 formed at the side not to be faced to the recording head 156, is coaxially installed in the transportation driving roller 170 at the outer side of the range of reciprocative movement of the carriage 150, and a rotating-amount sensor 174 for detecting passing of the divisions 173 by a change of a reflex-photo amount.
