PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a coating liquid for forming an overcoat layer to a plastic film comprising a vapor-deposited inorganic compound without causing a crack on a vapor-deposited thin film layer. SOLUTION: A web of the plastic film (20) having the vapor-deposited thin film layer (21) formed by vapor-depositing the inorganic compound is unwound from an unwinding part (11) and the unwound web is sent to a coating part (13) by a suction roll (12) to apply the coating liquid (22) continuously onto the vapor-deposited thin film layer-formed surface of the plastic film. Alternatively, the web of the plastic film (20) having the vapor-deposited thin film layer (21) formed by vapor-depositing the inorganic compound is unwound from the unwinding part (11), the unwound web is sent to a coating part (13) to apply the coating liquid (22) continuously onto the vapor-deposited thin film layer-formed surface and the coating liquid-applied web is sent to a drying part (15) by the suction roll (12).
