METHOD FOR LIMITING CONTENT USER TERMINAL, STORAGE DEVICE, AND SYSTEM

It is possible to flexibly limit the terminal enabled to reproduce a content and prevent unauthorized use of the content. In order to identify each of reproduction terminals, a unique identifier is assigned to each of the terminal devices. The identifier of the terminal permitted to reproduce with a license is registered in the license. When reproducing a content, authentication is performed between the terminal device as the license transfer destination and the storage device as the license transfer source. Upon the authentication, the identifier of the terminal device itself is transmitted to the storage device as the transmission source. The storage device compares the received identifier to the identifier registered in the license. If they coincide, the license is transmitted to the terminal device. If they do not coincide, the transmission of the license is stopped.
