An energy recovery circuit is provided to reduce power consumption and circulation loss of a plasma display panel by using only one switch, rather than four switches, in a data driver. An energy recovery circuit includes an external capacitor(Cx), panel capacitors(CPN), an inductor(L), and a switch(S1). The panel capacitors are formed to be equivalent to the capacitance of a plasma display panel. The inductor is coupled between the external capacitor and the panel capacitors. The switch is arranged between the contact point among the inductor and the panel capacitors and a voltage source for generating a data voltage. The switch is turned on to boost a current to the inductor, and turned off, while the data voltage is charged in the external capacitor via the inductor and then the charged data voltage is charged on the other one of the panel capacitors. |
