<p>A manufacturing method for a cylindrical battery, wherein a plate group is stored in a bottomed cylindrical battery case (5), the outer periphery of the opening part of the battery case is grooved, a sealing plate is disposed at the opening part of the battery case through a gasket, and the opening end of the battery case is caulked for sealing. In the grooving step of rotating driving the battery case in such a state that a core (12) matching the diameter of the opening part of the battery case is fitted to the opening part and supported from the inner peripheral side thereof and abutting a rotatable grooving roller (15) on the outer periphery of the opening part of the battery case and gradually pressing the grooving roller, the rotating speed of the roller is increased as the diameter of the battery case is increased so that the pressed amount of the grooving roller per unit rotating peripheral length and unit time can be set to approximately a prescribed value even if the battery size of battery cases are different. For the battery cases with different battery, they are grooved by a shared grooving machine for manufacturing the cylindrical battery.</p> |
