A bill handling apparatus is provided to reliably contain bills in a bill container by calibrating the slope of the bill by using a flange, which is coupled with a holding claw. A bill handling apparatus includes a housing(1a), a bill insertion slot(3A), a bill transfer unit(7), a bill container, and a bill pressing unit(30). The bill insertion slot is formed on the front surface of the housing. The bill transfer unit moves an inserted bill along an insertion direction and ejects the bill toward a bill pressing region(10) at the downstream of the insertion direction. The bill pressing unit presses the bill toward the bill container. The bill pressing unit includes a support unit, a pressing plate, and a link unit having a movable unit. The pressing plate is moved toward the bill container. The movable unit couples the support unit with the pressing plate. The movable unit includes a first end, which is supported by the support unit, and a second end, which is coupled with the pressing plate and moved toward the support unit.
