A roll and a spring for the same are provided to obtain a short stroke and spring length to generate a substantially dynamic spring force. A roll includes a roll shaft(1), a stationary stop ring(2), a stop ring(3), and at least one spring(7). The stationary stop ring and the stop ring are spaced apart from each other in an axial direction. The at least one spring has both ends spaced apart from each other in an axial direction. A first slot is opened at the front end of the spring. The first slot separates two front layers having ring-shaped surfaces. At least one second slot is opened at the rear end of the spring to separate two rear layers having ring-shaped surfaces(31).
