ETCHING COMPOSITION FOR LCD GLASS

Provided is an etchant composition for a liquid crystal glass substrate which is reduced in the generation of defect, is excellent in the removing power to a sealant and improves the mechanical strength of glass. The etchant composition comprises 0.5-15 wt% of a fluorine-containing compound; 20-60 wt% of a viscosity modifier selected from phosphoric acid, a glycol and glycerol; 10-50 wt% of at least one kind of an inorganic acid selected from nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and perchloric acid; and the balance of water. Preferably the glycol is at least one selected from monoethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol; and the fluorine-containing compound is at least one selected from HF, NaF, KF, NH4F, KBF4, NH4BF4 and NaBF4.
