An array substrate for an LCD, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to make a defective pixel operate in the same operation with a pixel formed upper or lower part by electrically connecting a repair pattern, and a pixel electrode and a second storage electrode overlapping the repair pattern to one another. A plurality of gate lines(113) are constructed in one direction on a transparent insulating substrate(110). A plurality of data lines(130) intersect the plurality of gate lines on the gate insulating layer to define a plurality of pixel regions(P). A repair pattern(118) of an island shape is formed in each pixel region. A storage electrode(139) includes a first region(139a) overlapping the gate line, and a second region(139b) diverging from the first region and overlapping the repair pattern in the pixel region. A thin film transistor(Tr) is formed at each intersection of the gate lines and the data lines. A pixel electrode(160) contacts the thin film transistor and the storage electrode, and overlaps the repair pattern.
