Provided is a method for preparing a pearl pigment coated with rutile titanium dioxide which has low cost and device cost itself and exhibits excellent water resistance, weatherability, and gloss stability. The method for preparing a pearl pigment by coating a metallic oxide on mica, comprises the steps of (i) wet-milling and distributing the mica, (ii) suspending the mica in purified water containing no-salt to form a mica sludge, and maintaining the sludge at pH 1-4 and 60-90 deg.C, (iii) adding a manganese salt to the mica sludge of the step(ii) at constant rate with maintaining at pH 1-4 and 60-90 deg.C, and reacting the salt and the sludge to coating the mica with the layer of manganese dioxide, (iv) after completion of the step(iii), adding a titanium salt to the mica sludge at constant rate with maintaining at pH 1-4 and 60-90 deg.C, and reacting the salt and the sludge to coating the mica with the layer of titanium dioxide, and (v) filtrating, washing, dehydrating, and drying the mica coated with the layers of manganese dioxide and titanium dioxide of the step(c), and firing the mica. |
