The mules-type of a sandal is normally assembled of a sole, either flat or high-heeled, and a transversal holding element guided across the upper surface of the foot. The is also a version with a short strip inserted between two of the toes. Both designs can be temporarily made safer for walking by using the fastening device. The device is made of a textile or leather strap forming a ring (1) in the center to be pushed over the sole of the shoe. One segment (2) is guided around the heel and the two outer ends are fastened with complementary patches of Velcro(RTM) (3).
