<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase on-board developability, fine line reproducibility, printing durability and on-board development running property in a lithographic printing plate and a lithographic printing method. <P>SOLUTION: This lithographic printing plate original plate comprises an image recording layer containing an infrared ray absorbing agent, a polymerization initiator, and a polymeric compound, on a supporting body. This image recording method for the lithographic printing plate original plate performs an image recording by irradiating the lithographic printing plate original plate with an infrared laser along an image. An irradiation with the infrared laser is performed under an atmosphere of which the oxygen concentration is 10×10<SP>-3</SP>mol/L or lower. This lithographic printing method includes three processes. In the first process, the image recording for the lithographic printing plate original plate is performed by the image recording method. In the second process, the lithographic printing plate is made by removing a non-exposed section of the image recording layer under a state in which the lithographic printing original plate is attached to the cylinder of a printing machine.
