PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane type levee capable of quickly and simply closing an opening section, and at the same time, having superiority in terms of the mounting strength. SOLUTION: In the membrane-type levee so that the opening section 12 of a tide prevention/breakwater 11 can be closed by expanding a membrane structural body 5, consisting of a waterproof membrane 1 and a plurality of reinforcing fiber ropes 2, as needed; an expanding means capable of expanding and supporting the membrane structural body 5 in the shape of an arch, under the hydraulic pressure action in the case the opening section, is closed by the membrane structural body 5 is provided; and at the same time, as the expanding means, a shape auxiliary fiber rope 3, having the length shorter than the fiber rope 2 provided along at least the fiber rope 2 on the highest step among a plurality of reinforcing fiber ropes 2 and a tension spring 4 connected to the end section of the shape auxiliary fiber rope 3 are included.
