The braking or blocking unit has brake or blocking disks (3) formed as a carrier for a magnetic measuring body. A contact free magnetoresistive sensor (5) is associated with the disks. The unit is preferably mounted on the rotating shaft (2) of an electric motor which is blocked for calibration purposes.
