A simple armrest for a vehicle seat comprises a padded cushion on one or both sides of the seat (4) and normally stored flush with the seat squab. The armrest has an offset pivot near to its top inside corner and has a matching cover to the seat. The armrest is swung up through 90 deg. either manually of via a servo, e.g. pneumatic, hydraulic etc.
