PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding mechanism of a portable device in which its entire length can be shortened and its thickness can be thinned, and to provide a cellular phone provided with the sliding mechanism of a portable device. SOLUTION: The sliding mechanism is provided with a base member 2 having one or more than two guide grooves 6 fixed on a first casing 11 and piercing in a sliding straight line direction; a slider 3 fixed on a second casing 12 and slidably engaged with the guide grooves 6; and a biasing means 4 provided between the base member 2 and the first casing 11, having one end coupled to the base member 2 and the other end coupled to the slider 3, and slidably biasing the slider 3 from a predetermined opening/closing position to a closing direction or an opening direction. This configuration can solve the above problem. Preferably, two of the guide grooves 6 are provided on the base member 2 and the slider 3 is slidably engaged individually with each of these guide grooves 6. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
